No artist drew Dorothy Parker more often than the legendary New York “line king” Al Hirschfeld. The Al Hirschfeld Foundation has created a special limited edition t-shirt to support the Dorothy Parker Memorial Fund, which is how fans can support the final resting place of Mrs. Parker in Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, New York. Pre-orders are being taken until July 7, you can pre-order here. Then they will be custom printed and shipped out in a matter of weeks, in time for Mrs. Parker’s birthday on August 22 (and fingers crossed, the unveiling of her new gravestone).
The soft gray shirts are 100% pre-shrunk cotton; the brand is Gildan Ultra Cotton. They are available in adult unisex sizes small to double extra large. The 1981 Al Hirschfeld drawing (look for the Ninas!) is on the front; the reverse features the small Dorothy Parker Gin logo from the New York Distilling Company. The NYDC produced a special small batch of gin (which sold out in one day) to support the Memorial Fund.

The mission of the Al Hirschfeld Foundation is to promote interest in the theater and dramatic arts by supporting not-for-profit museums, libraries, theaters and similar cultural institutions. The Foundation fulfills its mission by making grants to such organizations, by mounting exhibitions of Al Hirschfeld’s artworks at museums and other venues and by donating or lending Al Hirschfeld’s artworks to such organizations.
