Woodlawn Cemetery is the final resting place of Dorothy Parker and her family. To mark International Poetry Month, the Woodlawn Conservancy will host a book night online via Zoom on Monday, April 15, 2024, 7:00 p.m. ET. The guests are Kevin Fitzpatrick, president of the Dorothy Parker Society, and editor-researcher Stuart Y. Silverstein. Mr. Silverstein recently discovered 20 “lost” poems written by Dorothy Parker that were in the archives of the New York Public Library. He is the editor-compiler of Not Much Fun: The Lost Poems of Dorothy Parker (Scribner) which has two editions of more than 120 poems by Parker that he uncovered.
Join us for a lively talk and discussion about this detective work, the life and times of Dorothy Parker, and the history of how Woodlawn Cemetery plays such a big role in the life (and afterlife) of Parker and her family. We will also get to hear these poems read aloud for the first time in more than 75 years.
The talk is free to attend. Please invite and share with others who enjoy poetry and New York City history. The event is brought to you by the Woodlawn Conservancy and the Dorothy Parker Society.
