The 20th annual Parkerfest will be held August 20-22, 2021, and this year there will be gatherings in Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Manhattan, as we celebrate the homecoming of Dorothy Parker to her hometown. One is dog-friendly, so be sure to not miss out on one of our events. Unfortunately, the Algonquin Hotel has not reopened yet, so we will not be visiting.

Friday, August 20, 1:00 p.m. Dorothy Parker Walking Tour
Take a tour of Dorothy Parker’s neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Guide Kevin Fitzpatrick started this tour in 1999 and we will visit homes, haunts, and landmarks. Walk in Dorothy Parker’s footsteps on this 90-minute, 1.5 mile walking tour. We meet on West 72nd Street and Riverside Drive. Tickets on sale now.
Saturday, August 21, 10:00 a.m. Dorothy Parker Walking Tour and Dog Walk
Bring your furry best friend and a cup of coffee to come on a morning walking tour of Dorothy Parker’s neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Tickets are on sale now. We will see her homes, haunts, school, and places that factored into her life beginning in 1893. We meet on West 72nd Street and Riverside Drive, where she walked her dogs. Dogs and children get free admission! Strollers & scooters welcome.
Sunday, August 22, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dorothy Parker Gravesite Visit
Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on her birthday, come visit the new gravestone of Dorothy Parker. Her cremains were brought from Baltimore exactly one year ago, and now her new gravestone is ready to see. You are going to Woodlawn Cemetery, 4199 Webster Avenue, Bronx, New York 10470. Here are directions. The plot is in the Myrtle Section, close to the Webster Avenue gate. You can also visit the graves of scores of famous New Yorkers, including Irving Berlin, Nellie Bly, George M. Cohan, Celia Cruz, Miles Davis, E.L. Doctorow, Duke Ellington, and Herman Melville. Bring roses.
Sunday, August 22, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Dorothy Parker Birthday Party
The New York Distilling Company, Brooklyn. Come out to The Shanty, the cozy bar attached to the New York Distilling Company in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We will be reading poetry and tasting Dorothy Parker Gin at our annual birthday party. Bring your friends and join us, and maybe read aloud your favorite Parker poem.
