The Dorothy Parker Memorial Fund is to support the final resting place of Dorothy Parker in Woodlawn Cemetery, The Bronx, New York. Her remains were brought back to her hometown and interred on her birthday last year. A new, permanent granite gravestone is currently being created. The financial support will go to the memorial and the perpetual care of the Rothschild family plot in the Myrtle Section of the historic cemetery.
Donations of any amount are now being accepted online. Any over $100 will have their names appear (if they wish) in the Memorial Program. The Dorothy Parker Gin sold out in one day, and Al Hirschfeld Foundation exclusive t-shirts are on sale (until July 7), this is a third way for fans to support Mrs. Parker’s legacy.
The current plan is to collect enough donations for the gravestone to be unveiled to the public on August 22, 2021. This is not confirmed yet.
Unfortunately the Memorial Fund does not have IRS non-profit status for Americans to take a tax deduction. It may be a possibility in the future, but not at this time. As Mrs. Parker might say, ‘c’est la vie.’
Donations are being accepted here. Thank you!
