As we previously announced, the production of Those Whistling Lads! the Poetry and Short Stories of Dorothy Parker has been accepted into the prestigious 2008 New York City Midtown International Theatre Festival. It will run Sunday, July 20, through Friday, August 1, at the Workshop Theatre Mainstage, 312 West 36th Street. Director Maureen VanTrease has sent the cast information:
Hannah Wolfe – Recent Theatre: Hamlet (Castle Shakespeare Repertory), Her Kind: The Life & Poetry of Anne Sexton (NY Intl. & San Francisco Fringe Festivals), Much Ado About Nothing, Love’s Labors Lost (Illinois Shakespeare Festival), The Paper Bag Players, National Theatre for Children.
Annalyse McCoy – This is Annalyse McCoy’s NYC debut. Credits include: Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank (Greenbrier Valley Theatre), Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and Ginger in The 1940’s Radio Hour (Highlands Playhouse), Darlene in The Honky Tonk Angels (Clarence Brown Theatre, Little Theatre on the Square), Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Jenny Wiley Theatre). She received her BFA in Musical Theatre at Northern Kentucky University.
Justin Herfel – Is excited about working on Those Whistling Lads. Past productions include: Man of La Mancha (The Gallery Players), Uppies ‘n Downies (Actors Theatre of Louisville), Great Expectations (Theatreworks USA/first national tour), Spartacus (Inwood Shakespeare Festival) and Hope’s Arbor (Engine37/New York premiere). When not doing theatre, Justin improvises with the Manhattan Comedy Collective.
Ethan Angelica – is pleased to be playing more historical characters, having recently performed as Henry David Thoreau (The Scarlet Whale), George M. Cohan (George M. Cohan, in his own words) and Edgar Allan Poe (Edgar).
Glenn Stoops has worked with many NYC based companies including Boomerang Theatre Company, Quest Theater Ensemble, Blunt Theater Company, Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre, Banned in Warwick Productions, Trinity Players, and Theatreworks USA. Regional credits include NJ Rep (where he is a member), Shadowlawn Stage, Civic Theatre of Central Florida (Orlando, FL), Beechwood Theatre Company (Newport, RI), Playhouse on the Square (Memphis, TN), Sterling Renaissance Festival (Sterling, NY), Nebraska Theatre Caravan (Omaha, NE), EPCOT Center, and Universal Studios Florida. He can currently be seen on Liberty Island performing his one person show based on the life of Auguste Bartholdi.
Natalie Wilder — (AEA/SAG) – New York credits include Mouth in NOT I, Phaedra in the NY premiere of PHAEDRA’S LOVE by Sarah Kane, Olivia in TWELFTH NIGHT, Lady Macbeth in MACBETH, Lady Anne in RICHARD III, Hypatia in MISALLIANCE, and Beth in DINNER WITH FRIENDS. Natalie is a member of NJ Repertory Company, where she has appeared as Diversion in SPAIN, a co-production with Playwrights Theatre of NJ and where she originated the role of Rachel Gold in the world premiere of APOSTASY. She is also a member of Oldcastle Theatre Company, where she has appeared as the Bogle in JACOB MARLEY’S CHRISTMAS CAROL, multiple roles in HARD TIMES by Charles Dickens, and where she will appear this fall playing multiple roles in A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Regional credits include Maria in EL GRANDE DE COCA COLA, Celia in THE CURATE SHAKESPEARE AS YOU LIKE IT, and Janet in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. Natalie is a proud member of The Dorothy Parker Society.
Maureen Van Trease, member of AEA, was recently in a production of “No Man Can Serve Two Masters” with Third Eye Theatre Company at Times Square Arts Center, where she had the pleasure of playing a sociopathic, delusional housewife. A fledgling playwright and a big Dorothy Parker fan, her latest project is Those Whistling Lads: The Poetry and Short Stories of Dorothy Parker.
Bricken Sparacino (director) – directed and performed in American Treacle for MITF and is happy to be back with Those Whistling Lads. Other directing includes: Some Kind Of Pink Breakfast (FringeNYC), American Badass (Frigid Festival), Comedy Period (The Zipper) and 7 Diddly Sins (New Jersey Rep).
