Our community service project began last month and is off to a terrific start. We had five volunteers work with five children one-on-one at the Police Athletic League in Hell’s Kitchen. The Dorothy Parker Society’s first night of volunteers were Emily (matched with Maya), Nat (and Natalie), Maureen (who read to Bernice), Dottie (matched with Bernadette) and Kevin (with Ethyn).
We are continuing again for the “Second Tuesday” monthly through June; our next volunteer night is Tuesday, Feb. 12. The time commitment is for 90 minutes (6-7:30pm) helping kids who are poor readers. We will be working one-on-one with children. If you have the time, please join us.
