We are trying to pull off — for the first time ever — a gathering of the Dorothy Parker Society, Robert Benchley Society and International F. Scott Fitzgerald Society. The date is Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 7 pm. We of course will be at The Algonquin Hotel.
The evening is the same day as a conference that the Scott Fitz folks are having on Long Island. We are happy to report that David Trumbull, president of the Benchely Society, will be coming in from Boston for the weekend. If you are a Benchley fan, David can tell you about setting up a chapter in your neighborhood. We had a great time with the Benchley crew in 2003.
The three "literary" societies have never had a joint get-together before. The three namesakes of course were good friends; the last time Parker, Benchley and Fitzgerald were together was probably in Los Angeles at the Garden of Allah in the late 1930s.
The next day, we are having a special walking tour, with an added 10 locations that are tied to Scott and Zelda’s honeymoon and misadventures in Manhattan.
All are welcome to attend, it is open to the public.
