As previously announced, the 40th anniversary of Dorothy Parker’s death will be marked with a special evening in New York on June 4, 2007, in Manhattan. The Dorothy Parker Society is sponsoring an evening of talks, readings, and refreshments.
An update: The readers will be Tonya Pinkins, who is a Tony Award winner and currently on Broadway in August Wilson’s Radio Golf; joined by Xanthe Elbrick, a 2007 Tony Award nominee in the cast of Coram Boy; Hilda Rodgers, an executive of the NAACP (Mrs. Parker’s estate). Giving talks will Marion Meade, who is marking the 20th anniversary of her landmark biography Dorothy Parker, What Fresh Hell Is This?
In addition, Plymouth Gin (voted best gin by the New York Times last month) is providing complimentary cocktails to all those over 21.
The event will be held 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Revolution Books, 9 West 19th Street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues. It is free and open to the public.
